The new line of 24 Volt cordless tools from Bosch incorporates the latest in battery technology to take cordless power to the threshold of corded performance, with the go-anywhere versatility of cordless. The line includes a ½ drill/driver, a 6-1/2 inch circular saw, a reciprocating saw (coming in early 2000) and a flashlight.

The Bosch 3960 24 Volt Drill/Driver features an exclusive Bosch built power train that delivers up to 500 inch lbs. of torque. The Bosch power train combines a motor specifically designed to optimize 24 Volt power and the industry's largest metal planetary gear train to deliver maximum torque and durability. The motor also has changeable brushes for easy maintenance and to help extend the motor's life.

The drill features two variable speed ranges, 0-400 RPM for high torque and 0-1300 RPM for high speed; a variable-speed trigger with electric brake and a 16-position torque control clutch that allows the power level to be matched to the application. A side handle provides better leverage during high-torque operations, and can be attached on either side for right- or left-handed use.

The 24 Volt Cordless 6-1/2 inch Circular Saw has the industry's largest motor that delivers maximum power and reaches 3,600 RPM. It also has all ball-and-roller bearings and an electric blade brake for quick repetitive cuts. The patented rear depth adjustment system allows for easy blade depth adjustments. As with the drill, the motor brushes are changeable to help extend the life of the motor.

An Ultra Thin kerf, 18-tooth carbide blade allows for fast, smooth cuts. Plus, its left-side placement provides clear visibility to the blade and cut line. The ultralight die-cast aluminum foot bevels to cut 2 X lumber at up to 50-degree angles, with a positive stop at 45 degrees.

Other features include a soft-grip handle, on-tool blade wrench storage, spindle lock, rip fence and a dust port for attaching the Bosch Air Sweep vacuum system.

The Bosch 24 Volt line features the new "Platinum" series Ni-Cd battery-currently tops in the industry in power. The battery provides up to 30 percent longer run time than 18 Volt batteries. A one-hour Smart Charger is included with the tools and can charge all Bosch cordless batteries, regardless of voltage.
